“It’s just an innocent omission, a little white lie; it’s for her own good anyway. When grandma refuses to move to a nursing home to make room for her greedy relatives, they hold a fake seance so grandpa will tell her she should leave right away.  But what would happen if the seance actually worked, and a stranger came over from the other side and liked it so much he never wanted to leave!?”

Owls of Pennsylvania & Basket Raffle

Our friends and partners at Deer Meadow Campground, located at 2761 Forest Road, will once again be hosting our annual fundraising event. The basket raffle is always the highlight of the day with many great Cook Forest partners donating baskets filled with great prizes and items. A bake sale put on by the campground guests will occur at the same time.

This year Environmental Education Specialist Dale Luthringer will be presenting his Owls of Penn-sylvania program at the Pavilion at 1:30PM. There will also be a special evening viewing of the documentary film, “Cathedral: The Fight to Save the Ancient Hemlocks of Cook Forest”

The 2018 fundraiser provided the funding to replace and install all the interpretive signs on the Cook Trail. Be sure to take a hike and check it out if you haven’t already!

The year’s event will help fund the purchase of the exclusive rights to the “Cathedral” documentary so that Cook Forest Park can use and enjoy it for many years to come. It has been an invaluable teaching tool about the threat of Hemlock Woolly Adelgid to this entire region. Other projects, includ-ing additional trail work are being planned throughout 2019.
